Simple care to keep your solid wood furniture looking its best.
Everyday Cleaning
Dust regularly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, always wiping in the direction of the grain. Avoid all-purpose sprays, ammonia, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, which can dull or damage the finish.
Handle Spills Quickly
Wipe up spills immediately with a soft cloth to prevent water rings and staining. Avoid leaving wet glasses, vases, or hot dishes directly on the surface.
Use Coasters and Mats
Protect the surface with coasters, placemats, and felt pads under accessories. Use trivets for anything hot, and lift objects rather than dragging them across the wood.
Mind Light and Heat
Keep furniture out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heaters or vents. Extended exposure can fade the colour and dry out the wood over time.
Maintain Stable Humidity
Solid wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity. Try to keep your room conditions stable to minimise seasonal movement, which is a normal part of authentic wood.
Refresh the Finish
For oil-finished pieces, reapply a suitable furniture oil periodically to nourish the wood and restore its lustre. If you are unsure which product to use, contact us for guidance.
